DIY French Chair Makeover

I purchased these chairs from a restaurant that went out of business for a great deal. I didn't realize what bad shape they were in until I started working on them. I've only done two so far but will admit that I've spent over twenty hours on these chairs.

My transformation began with stabilizing the chairs and glueing. I then stripped the fabric and stripped the hundreds of layers of paint (took most of my time). Lastly, I was able to reupholster, my favorite part!

This project was expected to be a typical chair makeover but it was fun to find carpet (yes, carpet) and straw instead of foam inside the chair. This is a family heirloom for a long time friend. I'm happy to keep the piece alive and in a good home.

Convert a stool into a vanity bench

I was hired to construct a small vanity bench for a local client and I struggled with exactly the best way to construct a vanity bench that was sturdy, small enough for her desk and funky enough to fit my style. I then converted an IKEA side table that I had into the perfect stool.

Latest Project: Barstools Makeover

 I am so proud to showcase my latest project. Thank you Lisa for letting me do this makeover. SAhe found these barstools on Craigslist for next to nothing and had to vision to restore them. I love the ikat fabric and the color scheme.

 

BEFORE

 

We tried to salvage curtains into upholstery fabric but it wasn't strong enough to be durable. It was worth a shot but we then ended up at the fabric shop.

 

After opening the seats we had to also invest in new cushions. I recommend Foam and Fabric Outlet on Broadway in Knoxville, TN.

It took 30 minutes to remove the staples and leather from each piece and at least 30 minutes to cut, sew, and staple the new fabric.

 

The four stools consisted of 8 pieces in total making my project time 8 hours.
